In my first two months in Vietnam, I’ve grown as a teacher and as a person. The abundant uncertainty has forced me to embrace unforeseen challenges and let go of some of my expectations. I’ve accepted that my students will not be perfect English speakers at the end of the semester, no matter how much I want them to be and refocused my attention on how to make them better with each class. I have learned to live more in the present and enjoy everything that Can Tho has to offer – to stop and smell the fish sauce.
